First Day in Santo Domingo

Our first day in Santo Domingo was full of cultural experiences.

We learned all about chocolate and each one of us had the opportunity to make our own chocolate from the bean to the bar. It smelled and tasted delicious!

We walked around the Colonial part of town and we also used the Chu Chu Colonial, a little train that took us around town and showed us the most important buildings and explained their history. The architecture is beautiful and the trees and flowers give an amazing feeling to the city.

We also had the chance of sitting down for program orientation to review the program rules, as well as reach agreements as a group that will help us have a positive experience.

Every Sunday in Santo Domingo, there is a salsa group that sings in a plaza called Bonye. Everyone gathers around the dance floor and dances salsa. We had the chance of listening to this amazing group and the locals started inviting us to dance. It was so much fun and everyone that danced did a great job!

We had a delicious meal, celebrated the start of this adventure and went to bed after packing and getting ready for our journey to the village!

We will keep you posted.
