June 29: Departure Day, Miami to Santo Domingo

June 29 & 30: Santo Domingo
Spend two nights in the country’s vibrant capital city and learn about Dominican history and culture. Visit the historic Plaza de España, stroll through the pedestrian Zona Colonial, and eat a meal at one of the many cafes in the Plaza de Colon. Get to know one another through a group orientation and prepare for your stay in the host village.
July 1 – 5: La Guazara
Travel by private bus to our small host village, located in the mountains along the southern coast. Work together with the local community to complete a series of construction, education, and agricultural projects.
July 6: Bahía de las Águilas
Camp overnight on an undeveloped and pristine beach. Play beach volleyball, swim in the turquoise waters, and enjoy a meal together with Dominican friends.
July 7 – 13: La Guazara
Return to our host village to finish work on projects and prepare a goodbye celebration.
July 14 & 15: Jarabacoa, Central Mountains
Travel inland and stay at a mountain ecolodge tucked into the Cordillera Central Mountains. White water raft down the Rio Yaque del Norte, hike to a gorgeous waterfall, or ride horseback through the countryside.
July 16 – 18: Las Galeras, Samaná Peninsula
From the mountains, travel by private bus to the pristine Samaná Peninsula, along the northeastern coast. Explore gorgeous beaches, hike to El Limón Waterfall, and take a boat ride through the mangroves at the water’s edge. Learn about a permaculture project at the ecolodge and enjoy delicious organic food.
July 19: Santo Domingo
Return to Santo Domingo and enjoy a celebratory dinner with your group. Reflect on your experience in the Dominican Republic and say your final farewells.
July 20: Return Day, Santo Domingo to Miami
