Energizing Sun

After the most epic breakfast so far, we left our lodge and headed to Las Galeras, the little town where we met our boats for the day. Those two boats took us on a exhilarating ride to our first stop of the day, the beach called Fronton. It is known for the great rocks that surrounds it and we were told today it was featured in Survivor Mexico edition. The sand was powdery as well and even though it had more rocks than the one we had yesterday, it was again paradise.

We stayed there all morning, most of us tanning, napping, opening coconuts, swimming, snorkeling and most of all signing and laughing together. The sun was shining bright and it felt energizing on our skin.

After this beach, those same boats took us to another beach called Madama. This beach had a small sample of algae on its sand. We learned that most of the beaches of the country are suffering from this, a problem the locals are trying to fix since it makes the beach smell bad once it reaches the sand and starts to decompose. The beach was beautiful, but the group was interested in coming to this specific beach because it has a famous cave that was featured in Pirates of the Caribbean. We visited this cave, some of us confronting our fears of darkness and it was worth it! The entrance was small, but once in, there was a lot of space and interesting animals inside.

We then took our boats one more time and went back to Las Galeras where we found a little local restaurant that served us fried chicken or fried fish. The late lunch was much appreciated by the group. The afternoon was closed with a delicious visit to the local creperie where students ordered ice cream or crepes.

Afterward, we arrived back at our lodge. Everyone showered, chilled, and waited for dinner.

After a long session of singing (for the group of the girls) and conversation (for the boys) we had our nightly meeting. This, we realized, would be our second to last meeting in the program since tomorrow we will be organizing to pack! This was the perfect day as we are soaking up the sun and our last moments together as a group or little family that we have created.
